About the position

The Salvation Army is seeking a Digital Marketing Specialist to manage all Internet marketing and fundraising strategies for the Southern California Division. This role involves coordinating the divisional website, overseeing electronic communications, and implementing various digital fundraising initiatives. The Digital Marketing Specialist will work closely with the Community Relations team to develop integrated campaigns, enhance social media presence, and support special events. The position requires a proactive approach to curating and developing new online marketing strategies aimed at fundraising, prospecting, and engaging donors. Key responsibilities include maintaining the divisional website by developing new content and interactive features, managing the events calendar, and updating news releases and fundraising campaigns. The specialist will also manage the division's email program, ensuring timely execution of online fundraising efforts, and will provide quarterly reports to analyze email and site metrics for performance improvement. Collaboration with the Database Manager and Donor Processors is essential to synchronize online databases with donor and gift information. In addition, the Digital Marketing Specialist will be responsible for managing and promoting the Virtual Red Kettle initiative, developing new internet marketing strategies, and providing oversight and training for Corps or Program websites. The role also includes creating strategies and content for e-communications to donors, consulting with the Community & Marketing Director on editorial components, and staying informed on emerging online technologies. The specialist will also create in-house artwork for various marketing materials and support the Direct Marketing team and Development Department as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all Internet marketing and fundraising strategies for the Division.
  • Maintain the Divisional Website, developing new content and interactive features.
  • Manage the Division's email program, including drafting, editing, and proofing emails.
  • Ensure timely execution of online fundraising efforts, properly source coded and tracked for gift entries.
  • Provide quarterly reports to track and analyze email and site metrics.
  • Collaborate with Database Manager and Donor Processors to synchronize online database with donor and gift information.
  • Maintain and develop a master content calendar for all web priorities.
  • Report to the Communications & Marketing Director and work with vendors to improve data integrity and increase revenue.
  • Manage, promote, and report on Virtual Red Kettle.
  • Develop new internet marketing strategies, features, and content for the Divisional website.
  • Monitor and provide oversight, training, and assistance to Corps or Program websites.
  • Create strategies, content, formatting, and graphics for e-communications to donors.
  • Consult with Community & Marketing Director on editorial components.
  • Provide online support to Divisional headquarters staff and field as necessary.
  • Update and manage e-communication subscriber database.
  • Stay informed on emerging online technologies through relevant blogs, listservs, trainings, and events.
  • Create and produce in-house artwork for proposals, brochures, flyers, and digital campaigns.
  • Manage the Division's mobile fundraising and viral marketing initiatives.

Requirements

  • BA Degree or related field.
  • Minimum one year of marketing and fundraising experience.
  • Online marketing experience is a must.
  • Experience with Google Analytics.
  • Experience with Graphic Design is a must (Adobe's Creative Suite and Canva).
  • Experience with e-marketing platform, Blackbaud Internet Solutions preferred.
  • Proficient with HTML, CSS, Content Management Systems, and basic internet software.
  • Skilled in donor database and reporting systems.
  • Ability to type 55 WPM.
  • Skilled in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
