About the position

The Senior Network Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) Transport Enterprise. This position involves developing, engineering, and testing network configurations, providing on-call support, and ensuring effective end-to-end communications across various customer locations worldwide. The engineer will also be responsible for creating technical documentation and managing Cisco devices throughout their lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, engineer, and test network configurations and systems monitoring.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support for DISA ISR Transport Enterprise.
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance and site upgrades at customer locations.
  • Generate detailed technical documentation including network diagrams and procedural guidelines.
  • Configure, manage, and evaluate multi-protocol network elements for effective communications.
  • Create test plans, collect and record test data, and identify any failed test parameters.
  • Manage life cycle of Government provided Cisco devices.
  • Travel to various locations worldwide for installation and upgrades of customer communications sites.

Requirements

  • 10 - 15 years of relevant experience in network engineering.
  • Ability to travel worldwide and to austere environments for up to 2 months at a time.
  • Proficiency in layer 2 switching and layer 3 routing, with experience in designing complex routing and switching schemes.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco IOS, Cisco Firewalls, and networking technologies.
  • Proficiency in EIGRP, OSPF, STP, VTP, ACLs, and Layer 3 tunnels.
  • Experience with Cisco switches, routers, cryptographic devices, and VPN technologies.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues, and provide solutions.
  • Experience with security documentation and accreditation life cycles.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork and customer service.
  • Strong organization, facilitation, and time management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with BGP is preferred.
  • Understanding of security documentation and accreditation life cycles.
