About the position

The Service Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the front end operations of a retail store, ensuring exceptional customer service and compliance with company policies. This role involves managing staff, scheduling, and maintaining departmental budgets while directing customer traffic and ensuring a clean and efficient checkout experience.

Responsibilities

  • Champions corporate and division customer service programs to meet or exceed division customer service goals.
  • Manages and schedules duties of Front End Clerks, Courtesy Clerks, Service Operations Assistant, and Service Supervisors.
  • Manages and meets departmental budgets and financial objectives.
  • Complies with service scores, sales, quarterly labor, bag expense, cash shortages and overages, and check expense projections appropriately.
  • Directs and supervises front end operations, monitors and directs customer traffic flow, coverage of checkout lanes, cleanliness and appearance of front end sales floor, restrooms, front entry way and parking lot.
  • Ensures compliance with Company policies and procedures including cash handling and employee purchase policies.
  • Handles cash flow requirements including deposits, armored car service, safe transactions, and monitoring cashier funds.
  • Completes and ensures completion of all front end forms.
  • Works with Administrative Coordinator and Service Supervisor to solve problems including cash variances and voids.
  • Partners with Division Loss Prevention to resolve cash and shrink issues.
  • Oversees the coordination of front end employee training.
  • Responsible for front end duties such as ordering money orders and maintaining checkstand merchandisers.
  • Maintains cleanliness of checkstands ensuring proper signage.
  • Implements emergency procedures in the event of computer equipment malfunctions.
  • Creates department schedules to meet customer needs and communicates schedule changes.
  • Serves as overflow cashier when needed.
  • Coordinates and implements front end programs including Community Relations promotions.
  • Interviews and provides recommendations for hiring Front End Clerks and Courtesy Clerks.
  • Attends required training and sales meetings.
  • Maintains confidentiality concerning employees and store sales.

Requirements

  • Mid-level leadership experience in a retail environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage and train staff effectively.
  • Knowledge of front end operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Proficiency in basic math calculations.

  • Experience with Point of Sale systems.
