About the position

The Front End Associate is responsible for providing exceptional customer service during the checkout process, ensuring a positive shopping experience for guests. This role involves operating cash registers, maintaining a clean work area, and assisting with various tasks to support the store's operations. The associate must embody the company's mission and values while engaging with customers and handling transactions efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests with a smiling face and helpful demeanor.
  • Operate cash register or electronic scanner and look up products as needed.
  • Ensure proper pricing by scanning the correct barcode.
  • Suggestively sell items to guests at the register and offer add-on items.
  • Monitor merchandise brought to the register by stockers to ensure accurate charges.
  • Redeem coupons and weigh produce items when required.
  • Receive cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, or gift cards.
  • Issue receipts and any change due, accurately counting change back to the guest.
  • Bag or box merchandise and assist with carry-outs when needed.
  • Compute and record totals of all transactions on daily record sheet.
  • Call the code for a cash drop as soon as the limit has been reached.
  • Keep work area clean and neat, avoiding overstocking the counter with merchandise.
  • Count down drawer at end of shift and prepare final drop.
  • Answer questions and provide information to guests, resolving complaints with courtesy and respect.
  • Stock shelves and check price tags as needed.
  • Prepare assigned areas for inventory and assist in the inventory process if needed.
  • Fulfill responsibilities with care and attention to detail.
  • Practice teamwork and cooperation with others.
  • Possess time management skills and be able to prioritize tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred, but experience is also valued.
  • Cashiering experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions or memos.
  • Ability to communicate with and understand coworkers and guests; bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in whole numbers and fractions.
  • Responsible, reliable, and committed to providing extraordinary service.
  • Patience, friendliness, and an outgoing personality are needed for success.
