The 1919 Investment Counsel's Equity Research Team is offering a paid summer internship for college students entering their junior or senior year. The intern will support a fundamental equity-research analyst in recommending new investment ideas, analyzing financial statements, and presenting findings to the Quality Growth Strategy Team. This internship provides hands-on experience in financial analysis and equity research, culminating in a real-world stock pitch.

  • Assist in analyzing financial statements and writing an initiation report.
  • Orally present investment ideas to the Quality Growth Strategy Team.
  • Stay current on financial markets and instruments.
  • Listen to corporate earnings calls and read investment conference transcripts.
  • Review the company's strengths and weaknesses in relation to market threats and opportunities.
  • Build a new earnings model and calculate financial ratios and metrics.
  • Analyze quarterly balance sheet and income statement trends and forecast future revenues and earnings.
  • Create tables or graphs depicting company market share and historical profitability trends.
  • Synthesize analysis into a concise buy recommendation and write an initiation report.
  • Construct a PowerPoint slide presentation for a 20-minute oral presentation to Portfolio Managers.
  • Complete other projects and duties as assigned.
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related area.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher desired.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong writing, research, and organizational skills.
  • Professional demeanor and team-oriented personality.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
  • Prior experience with Accounting or Financial Statement Analysis is a plus.
