Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections on incoming and outgoing company owned trailers using ATS, DOT, and OSHA guidelines.
  • Complete DOT inspections on outgoing trailers to verify that all necessary repairs have been made.
  • Ensure safety procedures are implemented and followed and PPE is used at all times.
  • Move tractors and trailers in and out of the shop for maintenance.
  • Inspect and perform all minor and major trailer maintenance including welding, tire replacement, pressure checks, brakes, lights, and safety equipment.
  • Weld metal to repair parts or fabricate replacement parts.
  • Open repair orders and charge out all parts used on trucks and trailers.
  • Participate in online OEM training.
  • Remain technically proficient in all areas of the shop including trailer, tire, and basic parts.
  • Utilize appropriate resources to research problems and determine the most effective and efficient method for repair.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and take appropriate actions.
  • Be a positive role model for all team members providing support and enthusiasm.
  • Meet level 2 standard time rating and quality assurance performance.
  • Perform shop clean-up and housekeeping responsibilities.
  • Follow all ATS and department policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of equivalent experience in related field e.g., automotive, medium/heavy equipment, trailer repair.
  • Experience in cutting and welding is preferred.
  • Excellent working knowledge of DOT regulations and Out of Service parameters for tractors, trailers, and accessorial equipment.
  • Excellent working knowledge of trailer maintenance and diagnostic software.
  • At least two years of Mig and aluminum welding experience.
  • A valid driver's license; Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to operate all related shop equipment.
  • Must be DOT certified and forklift certified, or be able to demonstrate certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, listening).
  • Basic knowledge in using computers including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Excellent electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read installation manuals and understand manufacturer training.
  • Working knowledge of proper procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials.
