The Fillet Packer I position at Tyson Foods is an entry-level role focused on general labor tasks within a fast-paced environment. The primary responsibility of this role is to pack a required number of pieces per minute, which varies depending on the product being packed. New hires or those transferring into this role will gradually increase their packing speed as they become more familiar with the processes. Packers are required to reach out approximately 12 inches for trays weighing between 3 to 6 pounds, ensuring that the product is inspected thoroughly to remove any bones, skin, and cartilage. Occasionally, packers will need to use their hands to pull off fat and gristle from the product, which requires a certain level of dexterity and hand-eye coordination. The work environment is damp and cool, which is typical for food processing facilities. Packers must be able to stand for the duration of their shift, which averages around 8 hours, and perform repetitive motions that involve gripping, cutting, and packing at a rapid pace. The role also requires bending, twisting, and turning to keep up with the product flow. Additionally, packers must be able to lift weights of 6 to 10 pounds repetitively throughout their shift. The position emphasizes the importance of maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson's policies and procedures. Tyson Foods is committed to providing a people-first culture, offering competitive weekly pay, career growth opportunities, and a safe workplace. The company also provides healthcare benefits, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan with company matching. Tyson Foods is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer, ensuring that all qualified applicants are considered without regard to race, national origin, color, religion, age, genetics, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or veteran status.
