About the position
The Dockworker position is a full-time role responsible for the efficient movement of freight across the dock at Daylight Transport. The dockworker must adhere to safety regulations and standard operating procedures while operating forklifts and handling freight. This role requires a commitment to maintaining dock cleanliness and participating in safety and training meetings.
Responsibilities
- Pre-trip forklifts before use.
- Pre-load and post unloading trailer inspections.
- Safely unload freight from trailers using a forklift or manually.
- Safely load freight into trailers using a forklift or manually.
- Ensure freight movement matches the associated movement bill or cross dock.
- Comply with dock paperwork procedures while moving freight.
- Attend regularly scheduled safety meetings.
- Attend regularly scheduled training meetings.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area and safe environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Forklift certification is mandatory.
- Prior experience in a warehouse or dock environment preferred.
- Good command of the English language is required.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience operating forklifts for at least 1 year is preferred.
- Previous warehouse experience for at least 1 year is preferred.
