About the position

The 1st Shift Manufacturing Coach (Supervisor) at General Dynamics Mission Systems is responsible for overseeing the daily workflow of nonexempt workers involved in assembling components into finished products. This role is crucial for enhancing the performance and profitability of the organization, which supports national defense services. The supervisor will manage production schedules, resolve material and production issues, and ensure that employees are trained and motivated to meet quality and output requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the day-to-day workflow of subordinate nonexempt workers who assemble component parts.
  • Reviews production schedules, material, and manpower resources to assign employees effectively.
  • Informs employees of production and material problems and coordinates with support groups to resolve issues.
  • Participates in establishing and modifying operational methods and processes by recommending changes.
  • Maintains reports, records, and production documentation reflecting schedules and performance.
  • Ensures employment, training, motivation, counseling, and performance management of supervised employees.
  • May direct subordinates through 'lead' employees within the department.
  • May mentor other employees and support performance management activities.
  • Ensures training certifications are up to date for employees in the area of responsibility.
  • May lead or participate in Project/Process improvement teams.
  • Interacts with Quality Personnel to ensure area quality objectives are met.

Requirements

  • Business or Technical Associate's Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience required.
  • 2 years of production supervisory experience preferred.
