The position involves monitoring, maintaining, and improving production equipment and processes under the direction of the Engineering/Maintenance Supervisor and Operations staff.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and abide by all Company safety rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Ensure that safe and sanitary working conditions are maintained in the facility in accordance with Company standards, as well as state & federal laws and regulations.
  • Conduct safety training topics as required or needed.
  • Support daily production schedules through the timely troubleshooting and repair of faulty equipment, both electrical and mechanical in nature.
  • Monitor machine and process efficiency and ensure production goals are consistently met.
  • Collect and analyze data to ensure machine performance is maintained and to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Work with Engineering team to identify, support, and lead projects focused on improving the safety, efficiency, and capacity of manufacturing equipment, automation, and processes.
  • Maintain and document equipment repair history for trend analysis.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of machine faults and maintenance repairs with recommendations for process or machinery improvements.
  • Perform cost analyses and write justifications for proposed capital projects.
  • Examine and approve engineering drawings, design computations, etc. to ensure compliance with sound engineering practices and safe operating standards, codes and regulations.
  • Conduct preliminary surveys and prepare sketches and/or work drawings for the fabrication or modification of tooling, fixtures, etc.
  • Inspect materials, workmanship, as well as mechanical and electrical installations for conformance to plans and specifications.
  • Develop and maintain effective lines of communication between manufacturing personnel, supervisory personnel, engineering team, management, and outside contacts as required.
  • Assist in maintaining spare part inventories, to include cataloguing of components and suggesting items to be on stock as equipment history is obtained.
  • Support the development, implementation, and enhancement of an effective preventative maintenance (PM) program to ensure consistent equipment performance.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology field; or equivalent work experience in an automated manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Knowledge in maintenance of automated assembly equipment and its operation including electro/mechanical troubleshooting of pneumatics and industrial controls.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical processing equipment including pumps, heat exchangers, filtration, and ovens.
  • Ability to use computers and available software to maintain records and prepare technical reports.
  • Ability to communicate equipment issues to operations and manufacturing engineering staff in an accurate and technical manner.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience in automated equipment, Allen Bradley controls/PLCs, Keyence vision inspection software, CAD/CAM, FANUC Robots, Metal finishing, Electrocoating, Ovens, RO water systems, Wastewater treatment systems.
