About the position

The 2D Flash Animator/Writer role at BuzzFeed, Inc. is focused on creating engaging animated content for social media, particularly through the lens of Hispanic culture. This position is part of the Animation Lab, an innovative department dedicated to humor and creativity in animation. The role begins as a one-month freelance position with the potential for extension, emphasizing collaboration, creativity, and responsiveness to feedback.

Responsibilities

• Animate short content concepts for social media accounts, including editing, subtitling, and sound design.
• Participate actively in concept development and brainstorming sessions to generate the best jokes and ideas.
• Draw from personal experiences related to growing up Latine to create relatable content.
• Quickly handle and execute feedback from team leads, maintaining proactive communication.
• Adapt drawing style to align with established style guides.

Requirements

• Basic understanding of Spanish; fluency is preferred.
• Experience working on a small remote team with a focus on communication and collaboration.
• Proactive in generating ideas and adapting to feedback.
• Expert proficiency in Flash (Animate CC) with a full understanding of symbols and puppets.
• Full proficiency in Premiere and Photoshop.
• Bachelor's degree in Animation or equivalent experience.
• Working knowledge of 2D Animation and Production processes.
• Basic proficiency in Google Apps, Microsoft Office, Media Encoder, and After Effects.
• Strong communication skills for giving and receiving feedback.
• At least 2-3 years of experience in animation and online content creation.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of social media and digital video platforms.
