About the position

The 2nd Shift Material Handler/Picker position is a critical role within our company, which specializes in producing reliable and high-quality paper products for various uses, including writing, drawing, and creating. Our products are widely utilized in educational institutions, offices, and homes, making this position essential to our operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that materials are handled efficiently and accurately, contributing to the overall productivity of the team. This role requires a strong attention to detail, as the Material Handler/Picker will need to read and interpret orders, match packing lists with the correct destinations, and operate various equipment such as tow motors, forklifts, high lifts, and order pickers. The position also involves loading trucks, recording and reporting returns, and using an RF scanner system or computer to check stock status. Additionally, the Material Handler/Picker will assemble and stage pallets for shipping and maintain a clean and organized work area. Training other employees and performing general maintenance on lifts are also part of the responsibilities. The work schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday from 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM, with flexibility required for 12-hour shifts that may extend from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Fridays are common workdays, and candidates must be prepared to work some Saturdays and Sundays as needed. This position may be offered as a temp-to-hire or direct hire opportunity, providing a pathway for long-term employment with our company.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in picking and stand-up forklifts
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable using lifts up to 30 feet high
  • Frequently required to lift up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
  • Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance
  • Continuously required to stand, walk, use hand to finger, handle or touch, use foot/feet to operate machine
  • Frequently required to reach above shoulders, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
