About the position

The Security Engineer II is responsible for enhancing and maintaining the security of information systems and networks. This role involves implementing, operating, and improving various security technologies and processes, ensuring compliance with corporate security policies, and participating in incident response and vulnerability assessments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and deploy new security technologies, including operational manuals and run books.
• Provide technical security operations engineering services to support and update existing security systems.
• Investigate, recommend, evaluate, deploy, and integrate operational security tools and techniques.
• Participate in technical risk assessments and security exposure analyses of systems, networks, and business applications.
• Analyze network security elements and overall network security architectural designs.
• Oversee the installation, configuration, and supportive processes of security technologies.
• Participate in or lead Incident Response activities.
• Interact with internal and external clients on security operations requirements and develop strategies to address security issues.
• Lead or assist in periodic or ad-hoc security reports for senior stakeholders.
• Monitor and manage networks and infrastructure for attacks and intrusions, ensuring complete remediation of infected systems.
• Implement changes to security technologies/infrastructure in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Evaluate, implement, tune, and operate security solutions such as IPS and vulnerability scanning tools.
• Collaborate with IT Security Specialist to ensure security tools are functioning for production systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of IT relevant experience or equivalent combination of experience plus at least 3 years in Security Engineering/Planning Operations.
• Hands-on experience with at least two or more Enterprise Security Technologies such as Network Intrusion Prevention/Detection, Virtual Private Networks, and Firewalls.
• Experience in implementing Information Security technologies and processes.
• Ability to communicate effectively with client staff at all levels, from technical to executive.
• Demonstrated ability to pay close attention to detail.
• Knowledge of Information Security risk assessment methodologies and standards.

Nice-to-haves

• CISSP, CISSP-ISSAP, SANS, or other professional certification applicable to security engineering.
