About the position

Santa Rosa Junior College is currently accepting applications to establish a pool for part-time associate faculty assignments. Associate assignments are temporary, part-time or on-call. This job posting is not for a specific assignment or for a full-time faculty position, but rather to establish a pool of candidates who may be considered for part-time faculty assignments. Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent instruction and faculty support to students, which may include evening, weekend, online or hybrid and/or off-campus assignments.
  • Provide academic assistance and related services to students during scheduled office hours.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
  • Maintain currency in field(s) of expertise.
  • Associate faculty focus primarily on providing instruction and/or student services.
  • Associate faculty are typically not required to participate in District or department service such as committee work, evaluations, student learning outcomes assessment, and hiring committees, but may be asked to perform these services for additional compensation.

Requirements

  • Master's in any field of engineering technology or engineering; OR a Bachelor's degree in either of the above AND a Master's degree in physics, mathematics, computer science, biological science or chemistry; OR a Bachelor's degree in industrial technology, engineering technology or engineering; AND a professional engineer's license; OR the equivalent.
  • Requires a sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional experience in 3D animation, modeling, games, visual effects &/or virtual reality.
  • Expertise in and ability to teach 3ds Max, Mudbox, After Effects &/or Unreal Engine.
  • Membership and participation in professional industry associations within related discipline.
  • Experience teaching or mentoring in a professional or educational setting.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing and promoting diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism.
