The Resource Teacher - Instructional Resources is a certificated, non-management position within the Torrance Unified School District, operating under the supervision of the Chief Academic Officer and/or their designee. This role is designed to serve as an instructional resource for teachers transitioning from teacher preparation programs to independent classroom teaching. The Resource Teacher plays a crucial role in supporting both new and veteran teachers in implementing the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) effectively within their classrooms. In this position, the Resource Teacher will deliver professional guidance to assist new teachers in various areas, including effective pedagogy, differentiation of instruction, creating effective classroom environments, technology integration, and planning instruction tailored to the needs of English Learners, students with special needs, and high-achieving or gifted students. The Resource Teacher will also support teachers participating in the Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) program, which includes reviewing their work with the Formative Assessment for California Teachers (FACT) activities and documents as mandated by the District's BTSA Induction Program. The Resource Teacher will manage a caseload of 18-20 BTSA Induction program participating teachers, conducting observations and debrief sessions as required by the FACT system. Additionally, the Resource Teacher will offer classroom demonstrations on using formative assessments to differentiate instruction, curriculum compacting, lesson scaffolding, and implementing strategies to support content understanding for English Language Learners. Collaboration with staff in other content-specific programs, such as Common Core professional development and technology support systems, is also a key responsibility of this role.
