About the position
The Villages Charter School Autism Center is seeking a part-time Art Teacher to support the educational needs of students on the autism spectrum. The role focuses on fostering intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth in a nurturing environment tailored to each child's unique needs. The Art Teacher will implement various instructional techniques and collaborate with a team of educators and specialists to ensure effective learning outcomes for students.
Responsibilities
- Communicate clearly and effectively in both written and oral form with students, parents, and others.
- Meet with and instruct assigned classes at designated times and locations.
- Provide a safe, nurturing environment that stimulates academic, moral, and social growth.
- Assist students in learning to accept responsibility and demonstrate respect for people and property.
- Implement a variety of instructional techniques to meet varying learning styles of students.
- Consult with teachers, behavior support team, principal, and others to provide successful instruction for each individual student.
- Plan and effectively implement instructional activities designed to achieve curriculum goals and objectives.
- Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Evaluate student progress regularly, including academic and social growth.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law and district policy.
- Assist in the enforcement of school rules and administrative regulations.
- Check equipment and apparatus prior to use to ensure safety and proper working condition.
- Use knowledge of individual students' physical conditions in planning appropriate physical activities.
- Adjust instructional activities for students with disabilities as needed.
- Provide appropriate supervision for teacher assistants when provided.
- Assist with instructional focus.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) or higher from an accredited educational institute.
- One to two years of related experience and/or training.
- Must hold or be eligible for certification by the State of Florida in Art K-12.
