About the position
The Custodian position at Licking Heights School District is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and operational excellence within the school facilities. This role ensures that students, staff, and visitors have an attractive and comfortable educational environment. The custodian will perform various cleaning and maintenance tasks, support school events, and uphold safety and cleanliness standards.
Responsibilities
- Maintain immediate areas around assigned building exterior doors clear of snow, ice, and debris.
- Wash interior and exterior windows and remove graffiti as necessary.
- Perform regular custodial duties in the buildings.
- Empty trash receptacles inside and outside doorways daily and keep them clean as needed.
- Remove trash from the buildings daily.
- Assist visiting members of the public utilizing the facilities.
- Check schedule daily to provide necessary assistance for curricular and extra-curricular events.
- Thoroughly clean all surfaces in restrooms.
- Maintain custodial closets in a neat and orderly manner.
- Keep inventory of all supplies.
- Perform general cleanup for any incidents as they arise.
- Prepare work orders using the web-based work order system of the district.
- Occasionally work from elevated surfaces while conducting overhead cleaning.
- Keep all necessary items clean at all times, including windows, air locks, chalk/eraser boards, lockers, furniture, and display cases.
- Check daily to ensure all doors and windows are locked/unlocked as needed.
- Report any major repair needs or deficiencies to the supervisor.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor or principal.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- One to two years related experience preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and painting.
- Ability to use common hand tools.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull various supplies and/or equipment up to a maximum of 50 pounds.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in construction or maintenance work.
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to custodial work.
