About the position

The San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) is seeking dedicated and talented individuals to join our team as Early Ed Substitute Teachers for the 2024-2025 school year. As a substitute teacher, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the continuity of education for our young learners when their regular teacher is unavailable. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing lesson plans and maintaining the normal classroom routines. You will supervise young children during various activities, including outdoor play, lunch, and nap time, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. Your ability to use appropriate re-direction and positive guidance strategies will be essential in managing classroom behaviors and creating a supportive atmosphere for all students. You will also be expected to communicate effectively with the responsible administrator in case of any serious behavior issues that may arise. Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the full schedule of the regular teacher, including classroom day, outdoor play, lunch, and nap (if provided by the school).
  • Implement the lesson plans for the classroom to which they are assigned.
  • Maintain normal classroom routines and use appropriate re-direction and positive guidance strategies to diffuse classroom behaviors that may arise.
  • Contact the responsible administrator if a serious behavior problem arises.
  • Supervise young children as deemed by Child Care Licensing Department Codes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (AA or BA degrees in Early Education Development are preferred, but not required).
  • A CTC Child Development Teacher level permit or higher; Site Supervisor is preferred.

Benefits
