About the position

As a High School Spanish Teacher at Boston Prep, you will play a crucial role in shaping the educational experience of our students. You will be responsible for planning and teaching four classes per day, ensuring that each lesson is tailored to meet the diverse needs of your students. This includes holding regular office hours at least once a week to provide additional support and planning for small group instruction (SGI) blocks during the school day. Collaboration is key in this role; you will work closely with co-teachers, special education (SpEd) and English Language Learner (ELL) specialists, and other educators to deliver high-quality, differentiated instruction that meets the individual needs of all students, including those with special needs and English Language Learners. In addition to teaching, you will provide targeted feedback on student work to enhance engagement and learning outcomes. Your feedback will be anchored in equitable grading practices that focus on what students know and have learned, emphasizing the importance of practice and revision. You will also be responsible for designing, implementing, or internalizing standards-aligned curriculum and materials that are data-informed and culturally affirming of our students. Communication is vital in this role; you will regularly communicate with students, families, and school leaders regarding academic and behavioral progress through phone calls, messages on DeansList, and family conferences. Building strong relationships with students is essential, and you will support their character development through our advisory model, homeroom structures, and ethics-focused initiatives. Participation in key whole-school events throughout the year, such as family conferences and back-to-school nights, is expected. You will also engage in weekly staff professional development through One Team Meetings, Department Meetings, Grade Level Meetings, and Instructional Team Meetings. Upholding school and grade-level systems and structures with fidelity is crucial, as is partnering with team members, students, and families to actively address and uproot racism and inequality within our community. Regular coaching meetings will provide you with the opportunity to implement feedback and continuously improve your teaching practices.
