About the position

The Data Quality Analyst (DQA) at Florida International University is a temporary position focused on ensuring the integrity and quality of student data across multiple platforms. The DQA will be responsible for compiling, analyzing, and validating data, as well as assisting in the testing of project deliverables. This role is crucial in performing Data Quality Assurance tasks to identify inconsistencies or anomalies in the data, thereby improving overall data quality. The DQA will also assist in developing quality control processes for data profiling to pinpoint any issues that may arise. In this role, the DQA will monitor performance and quality control plans to identify potential issues and suggest improvements to existing systems. It is essential that the DQA ensures data quality is maintained to effectively support business processes. The position requires the DQA to communicate any data quality issues to IT team leads and maintain comprehensive records of all Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement Activities (QA/QI). Additionally, the DQA will create reports from various organizational platforms to ensure quality and accuracy, and provide ad-hoc assistance to team members as needed. This position is ideal for students enrolled at FIU who have been awarded Federal Work Study as part of their Financial Aid Award package. The DQA will work under the guidance of experienced professionals, gaining valuable experience in data management and quality assurance while contributing to the university's mission of maintaining high standards in student data management.

Responsibilities

  • Compile, analyze, and validate data across multiple platforms.
  • Assist in the testing of project deliverables.
  • Perform Data Quality Assurance tasks to discover inconsistencies or anomalies in the data.
  • Assist in the development of quality control processes for data profiling.
  • Monitor performance and quality control plans to identify issues or improvements.
  • Ensure data quality is maintained to support business processes effectively.
  • Communicate data quality issues to IT team leads.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of all Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement Activities (QA/QI).
  • Create reports from several organizational platforms to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Provide ad-hoc assistance to various team members.

Requirements

  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Excel.
  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with data management and visualization systems.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • College major in mathematics, the sciences, business administration or related field preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and in partnership with others.
  • Proven ability to use initiative and drive to achieve results.
  • Ability to create dashboards and reports using Business Intelligence tools.

Benefits
