About The Position

The position is for a Foreign Language (Spanish) Certified Teacher at Warrensville Heights Middle School. The teacher will be responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing student learning experiences, helping students make appropriate choices, and encouraging parental involvement. The role requires maintaining a thorough understanding of the subject material and creating effective student learning experiences.

Requirements

  • Valid State of Ohio Department of Education License for K-12 Spanish.
  • Must be Highly Qualified in appropriate subject area.
  • Evidence of exemplary classroom teaching experience.
  • A special commitment to helping urban students to succeed.
  • Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with administrators, teachers, parents and community/corporate groups.
  • Ability to work well as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to spend the additional time needed to effectively meet the challenges, objectives, and purposes of the school.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches Spanish as scheduled.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of subject material.
  • Creates effective student learning experiences.
  • Documents teaching performance objectives.
  • Uses formal and informal assessment strategies to monitor and manage student learning.
  • Upholds board policies and follows administrative guidelines/procedures.
  • Promotes a professional image of the school district.
  • Promotes effective communications and assistance.
  • Uses problem-solving techniques to tactfully address questions/concerns.
  • Prepares the assigned classroom or instructional area.
  • Evaluates the academic needs of students.
  • Develops meaningful educational activities that engage and stimulate learning.
  • Varies instructional techniques to address diverse learning styles.
  • Teaches skills utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education.
  • Instructs pupils in subject matter specific in state law and administrative regulations.
  • Adapts material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments.
  • Encourages pupils to think independently and to express original ideas.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
  • Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members.
  • Communicates with parents and other concerned individuals on pupil progress.
  • Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
  • Administers or monitors group tests.
  • Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.
  • Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities.
  • Seeks to involve parents/corporation/industry and community in education of youth.
