About the position

The Special Education Inclusion/Resource Teacher is responsible for providing tailored educational services to students with disabilities, ensuring their academic and personal growth. This role involves developing and modifying curricula, preparing instructional materials, and collaborating with general education teachers to meet the needs of students as outlined in their Individual Education Plans (IEPs). The teacher will also manage classroom behavior, maintain communication with parents and staff, and participate in professional development activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements.
  • Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines and board policies.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies and materials that reflect understanding of students' learning styles.
  • Supervise assignments of teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Use technology to enhance the teaching and learning process.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curricula for students with disabilities.
  • Conduct ARD committee meetings and serve as a resource for students, parents, and teachers.
  • Evaluate educational plans and track student progress, providing IEP progress reports to parents.
  • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to policies and IEPs.
  • Maintain open communication with parents, students, and colleagues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education or related field.
  • Valid Texas teacher's certificate with required Special Education endorsement.
  • Knowledge of subject(s) assigned and curriculum instruction.
  • Ability to instruct students using specialized, research-based strategies.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience with assistive technology devices and equipment.
  • Familiarity with special education laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
