About the position
The Athletic Coach for the C-Team Boys Basketball at Crownpoint High School is responsible for instructing athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for individual and team success. The coach will serve as a role model, promoting character development, self-discipline, and self-confidence among student athletes. This position requires organizing and supervising the sports program while collaborating with assistant coaches and the athletic director.
Responsibilities
- Instruct athletes in fundamental skills and strategies of basketball.
- Organize and supervise the C-Team Boys Basketball program.
- Serve as a role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.
- Coordinate and support a staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches.
- Teach and enforce rules and regulations of the sport.
- Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics and observations.
- Provide necessary practice support and advice for team success.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalency.
- Must hold or have the ability to obtain an Athletic Coaching License from the New Mexico Public Education Department.
- Completion of the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association.
- Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport.
Nice-to-haves
- Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of basketball.
- Ability to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to coaching.
