About the position

The position is for an Elementary School Art Teacher at Scenic Heights Elementary, responsible for developing and implementing lesson plans that cater to the individual needs of students. The role involves creating a positive learning environment, evaluating student progress, and collaborating with colleagues and parents to enhance the educational experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials tailored to individual student needs.
• Translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
• Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to create an effective learning atmosphere.
• Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth and maintain appropriate records.
• Identify pupil needs and make referrals, developing strategies for individual education plans.
• Communicate regularly with parents through various means outside normal classroom hours.
• Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors in a supportive manner.
• Participate in professional development activities to stay current with best teaching practices.
• Integrate technology into instruction.
• Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements

• Minnesota k-12 Visual Arts and K-12 Media Specialist license required.
• Demonstrated ability to apply appropriate skills in performing daily routines.
• Ability to operate a computer and necessary classroom technology.
• Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.
• Maintain professional composure in various situations.
• Show initiative and function as a self-starter.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
