About the position

The Building Substitute position at Breakthrough Public Schools is a full-time role aimed at supporting the educational mission of the school network. This position involves delivering developmentally appropriate curriculum and instruction to students in grades K-8, fostering a positive classroom environment, and collaborating with faculty to enhance instructional practices. The role is integral to maintaining high expectations for student achievement and contributing to a culture of growth and equity within the school community.

Responsibilities

• Support the school's mission, philosophies, values, goals, and policies toward students, parents/guardians, and coworkers.
• Interact frequently and respectfully with children.
• Deliver developmentally appropriate curriculum and instruction reflecting observations and goals of individual children.
• Establish a classroom culture of high expectations and no excuses, including college preparation for all children.
• Work with faculty and school leadership to examine student data for ongoing refinement of instruction and assessment.
• Share best practices with other teachers and collaborate to improve instructional and assessment practices.
• Keep the classroom environment organized, attractive, and safe.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree preferred; High School Diploma accepted.
• Valid OH substitute teaching certificate/license or in the process of obtaining one.
• Passionate about urban education and the school's mission.
• Highly qualified in content area and/or grade level.
• Maintain a professional and no excuses attitude.
• Receptive to feedback and desire to grow professionally.
• Highly organized.
