The Maintenance Technician II - Special Systems position at the Facilities & Construction department is designed to support the educational process by ensuring that facilities are maintained in a safe and operational condition. This role involves addressing immediate operational and safety concerns, assisting higher-level Maintenance Technicians (III and IV) with various general maintenance tasks, and ensuring that tools and materials are readily available at job sites. The technician will engage in a variety of maintenance activities, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, and generator preventative maintenance, as well as grounds keeping duties. The position requires a proactive approach to maintaining the facilities and ensuring a safe environment for all users. In this role, the technician will be responsible for arranging furniture and equipment for special events, assisting in the transportation and securing of materials, and completing specific tasks as directed by senior technicians. The technician will also attend meetings and training sessions to gather and convey necessary information. Building modifications, maintaining records of equipment usage, and performing preventative maintenance on various systems are also key responsibilities. The technician will be expected to perform general grounds keeping tasks to maintain safe and attractive areas for recreational activities and assemblies. The position requires a commitment to safety and efficiency, as the technician will be involved in repairing equipment and systems, servicing locks, and ensuring that all tools and equipment are in safe operating condition. The technician will also be responsible for processing work orders and documenting activities to maintain accurate records. This role is essential for the effective functioning of the Facilities & Construction department, and the technician will work under the supervision of the Lead Person, Tech III, and Tech IV.
