About the position

The Athletics Coordinator at Young Scholars Charter School (YSCS) is responsible for developing and managing a comprehensive athletics program for middle school students. This role involves liaising with the Metropolitan Philadelphia Athletic Association (MPAA), ensuring student participation in sports, and fostering a positive school culture through athletics. The position is contracted for the 2024-25 school year, with specific hours dedicated to after-school programs and activities.

Responsibilities

  • Safely implement afterschool programs, including attendance tracking and coordinating transportation for practices and games.
  • Escort athletes to practices and games, ensuring their safety.
  • Coordinate practice and game schedules, tracking student participation attendance.
  • Facilitate information sessions for students and families regarding sports participation and associated fees.
  • Assist in building school culture through sports programs by conducting eligibility checks and mentoring athletes.
  • Run the Student/Athlete of the Week program and create visuals to promote sports and wellness initiatives.
  • Set goals for ineligible student athletes and conduct follow-up meetings.
  • Host an end-of-year sports awards banquet for student athletes and their families.
  • Attend athletic director meetings and complete necessary sports training to enhance the effectiveness of the sports program.
