About the position

The SPED Autism Teacher at Campo Bello Elementary School is responsible for providing specialized education to students with autism and other special needs. This role involves developing individualized learning plans, delivering tailored instruction, and collaborating with other educators and parents to enhance student success in academics and daily living skills. The teacher will also manage classroom behavior, assess student progress, and ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Administers developmental testing programs and subject-specific assessments to assess student competency levels.
  • Provides first aid and assistance to medically fragile children under supervision.
  • Advises parents and legal guardians on student progress and methods for improvement.
  • Assesses student progress towards objectives and goals.
  • Collaborates with instructional staff, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes.
  • Counsels students to improve performance and address personal issues.
  • Demonstrates pedagogical approaches that engage learners effectively.
  • Differentiates classroom work to meet individualized learning needs.
  • Directs assistant teachers and volunteers to support classroom programs.
  • Instructs students to improve academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills.
  • Maintains confidential and non-confidential records in accordance with guidelines.
  • Manages student behavior to provide a safe learning environment.
  • Monitors students in various educational settings to ensure safety.
  • Orders supplies and equipment as needed for classroom activities.
  • Participates in meetings to convey and gather information.
  • Prepares written materials to document student progress and meet requirements.
  • Reports health and safety issues to the assigned administrator.
  • Responds to emergency situations to resolve safety concerns.
  • Responds to inquiries from various sources to provide information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a job-related area.
  • Arizona Teaching Certificate.
  • Appropriately Certified in Core Content Area.
  • SEI Endorsement Required.
  • CPR Certificate.
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • CPI Certificate.
