About the position

The 2024 Research/Engineering Intern position at Outward, Inc. focuses on leveraging machine learning and computer vision technologies to enhance visual experiences in e-commerce. Interns will work on innovative projects involving deep neural networks, generative algorithms, and AI integration, contributing to the development of cutting-edge solutions that improve product visualization and consumer engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced techniques in deep neural networks for vision tasks such as segmentation and detection.
  • Work with generative models, including Stable Diffusion, to enhance visual content creation and realism.
  • Support the integration of AI into production processes and streamline workflows.
  • Contribute to developing AI solutions that improve quality control and enhance product visuals.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a similar field.
  • On track to graduate with a Ph.D. or MSc degree between Fall/Winter 2024 and Spring/Summer 2025.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5.
  • Experience with scientific libraries such as NumPy and scikit-learn.
  • Familiarity with image manipulation libraries like OpenCV.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch.
  • Strong software engineering skills in Python or C++.
  • Strong communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Skills in processing and cleaning data.
  • Experience with maintaining PostgreSQL databases and image content.
  • Working experience on cloud infrastructure.
