About the position

As a Technical Writer, Research Intern at Snap Research, you will play a crucial role in supporting the organization's communication strategies by coordinating both internal and external activities related to various research programs. This position involves creating and disseminating research findings and initiatives through multiple channels, including publications, websites, newsletters, and social media. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in technology, research, and communications while contributing to an innovative team that is at the forefront of technological advancement. In this role, you will be tasked with inventing new ways to convey complex information to a technical audience. You will collaborate with teams across communications, product, engineering, and marketing to generate content that is accessible to a wide audience. Your responsibilities will also include managing social media by developing and creating engaging content and graphics for research-related channels, thereby broadening Snap's online presence. Additionally, you will support the organization of virtual meetings and research events, coordinating logistics and providing necessary communication materials. Your internal communications efforts will involve writing web and email content for the company intranet, ensuring that staff are informed and engaged with ongoing research projects. You will also be responsible for copy editing, reviewing and editing web pages and publication release pages to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency in all written communications. Ultimately, your goal will be to build a strong online presence for Snap Research by creating engaging content for various social media platforms, including LinkedIn and others.

Responsibilities

  • Invent new ways to convey complex information to a technical audience
  • Work with communications, product, engineering and marketing to generate content for a wide audience
  • Develop and create engaging content and graphics for research-related social media channels
  • Organize and support virtual meetings and research events, including coordinating logistics and providing communication materials
  • Write web and email content for the company intranet to keep staff informed and engaged with ongoing research projects
  • Review and edit web pages and publication release pages to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency in all written communications
  • Increase the organization's visibility by creating engaging content for social media channels.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled and pursuing an undergraduate degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
  • Graduation date between December 2024 - Spring 2025
  • Experience with graphic design programs such as InDesign, Canva, Photoshop, etc.
  • Ability to learn and understand technical material and package it into engaging content
  • Familiarity with technical concepts like software engineering and research in AI
  • Familiarity with basic graphics design software, such as Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Excellent operational, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work with both technical and non-technical teammates
  • Excellent writing and comprehension skills with English vocabulary, spelling, and grammar.
