About the position

The Early Childhood Teacher is responsible for supporting the achievement and school readiness of pre-K students by creating a flexible learning environment that fosters personal growth. The role involves collaborating with other educators and staff to meet student needs, developing lesson plans, and maintaining effective communication with parents and the school community.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, administration, and support staff to identify student needs and design appropriate programming and instruction.
  • Conduct early childhood assessments and complete required reports regarding student eligibility and progress.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, providing individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to each pupil's needs.
  • Translate lesson plans into engaging learning experiences to maximize instructional time.
  • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to create a functional learning atmosphere.
  • Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, maintain appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Communicate with parents through various means to discuss pupil progress and interpret the early childhood program.
  • Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professionals to address health, attitude, and learning problems.
  • Create an inviting learning environment with displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
  • Maintain professional competence through in-service education and self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Select and requisition instructional materials and maintain inventory records.
  • Ensure a clean and healthy classroom environment, including end-of-year cleaning.
  • Order and purchase appropriate snacks throughout the year.
  • Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
  • Demonstrate effective human relations and communication skills.
  • Comply with safety practices and district policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid Missouri teacher certificate in early childhood education.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with parents and staff.
  • Experience in developing and implementing lesson plans for early childhood education.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with early childhood assessments and reporting.
  • Knowledge of child development and learning strategies for young children.
