About the position

The Associate Embedded Software Engineer position at Thales Defense & Security, Inc. involves working with the Embedded Software Design team to support engineering tasks for Helmet-mounted Display (HMD) Units. The role encompasses the entire software development lifecycle, including requirements generation, system design, implementation, integration, and testing support. This position is based in Aurora, IL, and is targeted to start in Summer 2025.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Embedded Software Design team to perform low-level design and support engineering tasks for Helmet-mounted Display (HMD) Units.
• Engage in the software development lifecycle including requirements generation, system design, implementation, integration, and testing support.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• 0-2 years' experience with BSEE/BSCE/BSME/BSCS or equivalent.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and build and maintain relationships with team members.
• Experience in software development for embedded systems in a Linux environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with the software development process (peer reviews, unit testing, configuration management, defect tracking).
• Developing software in C/C++, Python.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and techniques such as Scrum, Kanban, Test Driven Development, etc.
• Knowledge of wireless communication systems and networking.
• Experience with Embedded Linux on ARM processors.
