About the position

The 2025 Chemical Engineer Intern position at Berkshire Hathaway Energy focuses on mineral development projects. This position requires analytical skills, as interns will analyze financial models and provide summaries of information to the development team. The internship is structured to provide a comprehensive learning experience, allowing interns to perform additional responsibilities as assigned, which may vary based on project needs and intern capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Supports all activities associated with the development and construction of mineral development projects.
  • Assists with evaluation and due diligence on potential investments, acquisitions and other business evaluations and performs research.
  • Develops and maintains reports, presentations, project schedules and plans, and tracks project financials, invoicing and development and construction status of projects.
  • Assists in the preparation of contracts, permit applications, regulatory filings and other activities necessary to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Analyze financial models; provide summary of information to development team on analysis.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous internship or co-op experience in engineering or project management.
  • Familiarity with financial modeling and analysis.
