About the position

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Cloud Native Developer Undergrad Intern to join the Datacentric Platforms and Architectures Department within the Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD). This position is designed for students currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. As an intern, you will be part of a team that integrates cutting-edge information system technologies with expertise in cyber security, software architecture, software engineering, data science, and artificial intelligence. The ISCD is dedicated to delivering high-performance software systems to various customers, including the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, and civilian sectors. In this role, you will develop cloud native applications that address complex challenges in the space enterprise. You will work closely with experienced developers and subject matter experts, gaining hands-on experience while contributing to a variety of space-related projects. The internship will provide you with the opportunity to leverage cloud technologies to create data engineering and architecture solutions, as the demand for data analysis continues to grow. You will also interface with project leaders and customers, showcasing your contributions to the projects you are involved in. The work model for this position is hybrid, requiring some onsite work (3 days a week) in locations such as El Segundo, CA, Chantilly, VA, or Colorado Springs, CO. This internship is expected to last a minimum of 10 weeks, and you must be available to work full-time during this period. Responsibilities

  • Develop cloud native applications to solve complex problems in the space enterprise.
  • Collaborate with a team of developers and subject matter experts on various space-related projects.
  • Leverage cloud technologies to provide data engineering and architecture solutions.
  • Interface with project leaders, product owners, and customers to communicate project contributions.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited college/university program pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of university term and ability to return to a degree program full-time after completion of the internship.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Intermediate programming ability in Python and/or Java.
  • Ability to containerize an application using Docker.
  • Hands-on experience with utilizing REST APIs.
  • Ability to use Git for source control.
  • U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • Active security clearance.
  • Experience using FastAPI or Flask (Python) and/or Springboot (Java) to develop microservices.
  • Ability to create REST APIs.
  • Ability to deploy applications to Kubernetes.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS GovCloud, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Intermediate programming ability in C, C++, Rust, and/or Go.
  • Ability to create and deploy Helm charts.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and DevSecOps concepts and/or practical experience.
  • Hands-on experience with relational, non-relational, time series, and/or graph databases.
