About the position

At Wells Fargo, we are looking for talented individuals who will put our customers at the center of everything we do. The Corporate Risk Summer Intern Program is designed for undergraduate students and provides a comprehensive ten-week overview of Wells Fargo's operations, business strategies, and corporate culture. As part of the second line of defense, Corporate Risk, or Independent Risk Management, this program offers participants a unique opportunity to gain insights into risk management practices and the importance of compliance within the financial services industry. The internship experience includes relationship building, relevant work assignments, coaching, performance feedback sessions, group projects, and informative learning sessions with key leaders. Interns will engage in a blend of business and professional development training opportunities that incorporate real-world experiences, preparing them for a future career at Wells Fargo. Successful interns will have the opportunity to receive an offer to return for the full-time 2-year rotational Corporate Risk Development Program in the following year. Participants will be placed in one of two tracks: Financial Risk or Non-Financial Risk. The Financial Risk Track includes areas such as Corporate & Investment Banking CRO, Credit Risk, Finance CRO, and Strategic Risk. The Non-Financial Risk Track encompasses Compliance, Independent Testing & Validation, Operational Risk, and Strategic Risk. Throughout the program, interns will participate in formal workshops, review various assignments, and collaborate with peers and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying and resolving compliance matters, as well as the ability to manipulate and analyze large datasets using programming languages such as SAS, SQL, and Python.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in formal internship program and workshops within Internship Program
  • Review various assignments to become familiar with policies and procedures related to tasks and deliverables
  • Receive directions from a manager and exercise independent judgment while developing understanding of the line of business including compliance and risk management requirements for the supported area
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
  • Provide consulting and support for projects and initiatives with moderate risk
  • Effectively work with internal stakeholders, lines of business, enterprise risk groups, and risk partners
  • Execute on strategic priorities and reporting
  • Manipulate and analyze large complex datasets with a programming language such as SAS, SQL, and/or Python
  • Work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment
  • Proactively identify and resolve compliance matters
  • Identify risks and/or gaps through trending analysis and report results to stakeholders
  • Build and sustain relationships with peers, Executive Office, and business partners
  • Provide strategic support to risk and control teams in coordination and execution of initiatives
  • Demonstrate the ability to facilitate effectively in both a face-to-face and virtual environment

Requirements

  • 6+ months of work experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Bachelor's degree candidate with an expected graduation in December 2025 - May/June 2026 in IT, STEM, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Accounting, and/or Analytics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Strong analytic and/or process skills including manipulating data using SAS, SQL, and/or Python
  • Knowledge and/or experience in compliance, operational risk, and/or experience in the financial services industry
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Ability to take on a prominent level of responsibility, initiative, and accountability
