About the position

Textron Specialized Vehicles Inc. is a leading global manufacturer of various vehicles, including golf cars, utility and personal transportation vehicles, snowmobiles, side-by-sides, all-terrain vehicles, professional turf-care equipment, and ground support equipment. The company markets its products under several different brands, and its vehicles are utilized in diverse environments such as golf courses, factories, airports, planned communities, theme parks, and hunting preserves. As an Electrical Engineer Intern, you will play a crucial role in assisting with the design and development of various mechanical and electrical systems. This includes working on components such as vehicle frames, steering systems, suspension, axles, drivelines, seating, roll cages, body panels, lighting, electrical harnesses, and electrical system designs, as well as circuit board design and microprocessor programming. Your responsibilities will involve completing assigned tasks within defined project timelines, ensuring that all work aligns with the project schedule. You will be expected to revise, review, and create functional specifications and engineering design standards. Additionally, you will create test and analysis plans for product validation, perform tolerance studies on components and assemblies, and develop and release engineering component and assembly drawings, along with vehicle bills of material. Incorporating Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) on engineering drawings will also be part of your duties. You will need to resolve and document any design issues that arise during testing and participate in cross-functional design reviews, as well as Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) assessments on components and assemblies. Performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on components and assemblies for stress and thermal evaluations will also be a key aspect of your role.

  • Incorporate Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) on engineering drawings.
  • Resolve and document design issues found during testing.
  • Participate in cross functional design reviews and Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Assessments on Components & Assemblies.
  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on Components & Assemblies for stress, thermal etc.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • 3.0 GPA or higher required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
  • Familiarity with CAD software
  • Experience with Visual Basic or other programming languages
  • Proficiency in Matlab
