The Aerodynamics Engineer position at Textron Aviation is a critical role responsible for the aerodynamic analysis and development of both new and derivative aircraft across the company's product line. This position requires the application of various analytical methods, including the use of wind tunnel data and flight test data, to ensure optimal aerodynamic performance. The engineer will engage in a variety of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tasks, which encompass internal and external aerodynamic analysis, aerodynamic design, and the prediction of aircraft loads, performance, and handling qualities. In this role, the engineer will develop design, analysis, and simulation models and tools utilizing a range of in-house, commercial, and NASA-developed computational tools. Proficiency in programming languages such as FORTRAN, MATLAB, C, Python, and MATHCAD is essential, as the work will be conducted on LINUX workstations and PCs. The engineer will contribute to significant engineering projects, participating in the entire development process from early advanced design efforts to final certification activities. Collaboration is key in this position, as the engineer will work closely with other engineering disciplines, including Advanced Design, Mass Properties, Flight Controls, Propulsion, Mechanical Systems, Engineering Flight Test, Stress, and Fatigue. A thorough understanding of 14 CFR Part 23 and Part 25 regulations is necessary to ensure that all critical design and certification analyses are performed. The engineer will also be responsible for documenting results in memos and certification reports for internal customers and global certification authorities.
