The Instrumentation Engineer position at Textron Aviation is a critical role responsible for creating and managing the Instrumentation Data Acquisition System (DAS) to acquire real-time data on flying test articles. This position plays a vital part in providing development and certification data to various engineering departments, supporting new product development, certification processes, product problem investigations, and fleet sustaining efforts. The engineer will be accountable for the implementation of the Flight Test Instrumentation Request (FTIR) from the initial request through to data delivery, ensuring that all data collected is accurate and reliable. In this role, the Instrumentation Engineer will act as a liaison between the Instrumentation team and other stakeholders, including aircraft systems engineers, Flight Test personnel, customers, and suppliers. The engineer will be responsible for planning and providing guidance on the design, procurement, fabrication, installation, calibration, operation, and troubleshooting of data acquisition systems. Additionally, the engineer will manage the aircraft Instrumentation configuration before and during testing to ensure data integrity and actively develop improvements in standard practices to enhance the traceability and quality of the data delivered to engineering. The position also involves providing leadership, training, and mentoring to Instrumentation technicians, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. The candidate will be expected to work independently, demonstrating good decision-making skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This role is essential for ensuring that Textron Aviation maintains its high standards in data acquisition and analysis, contributing to the overall success of the company's engineering efforts.
