About the position

The Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for creating and implementing data acquisition systems (DAS) to collect real-time data on flying test articles. This role supports new product development, certification, and fleet sustaining efforts by providing critical data to various engineering departments. The engineer will act as a liaison between different teams and manage the configuration of aircraft instrumentation to ensure data integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the Flight Test Instrumentation Request (FTIR) from request to data delivery.
  • Act as a liaison and represent Instrumentation to aircraft systems engineers, Flight Test, customers, suppliers, and team members.
  • Plan and provide guidance for the design, procurement, fabrication, installation, calibration, operation, and troubleshooting of data acquisition systems.
  • Manage aircraft Instrumentation configuration prior to and during testing to assure data integrity.
  • Develop improvements in standard practices to ensure traceability and quality of acquired data.
  • Provide leadership, training, and mentoring for Instrumentation technicians.
  • Work independently and make responsible decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field required.
  • Experience in instrumentation or a related field is preferred.
  • Less than 2 years of professional experience in a relevant role.
  • Broad theoretical training and fundamental skills for troubleshooting electrical/mechanical aircraft systems.
  • Knowledge of PCM (pulse coded modulation) encoders and signal conditioning.
  • Knowledge of airborne data acquisition systems, transducer applications, and calibration techniques.
  • Ability to utilize computers to create and modify data acquisition software.
  • Ability to deal with change and work in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor and organizational skills.
  • Positive attitude and outstanding integrity.
