About the position

The IT Analyst position at Caterpillar Inc. plays a crucial role in supporting the IT function across the enterprise. This position involves assisting in the development, testing, and implementation of application systems, requiring a strong proficiency in core application systems, problem-solving skills, and a solid understanding of application design and architecture. The IT Analyst will work on complex projects that span various applications, contributing to both internal and external systems and applications. This role is designed for individuals who are eager to make a significant impact in a collaborative environment, where they can leverage their technical skills to enhance system performance and user experience. In this role, you will be involved in various IT functions, including developing, coding, and testing computer programs. You will assist in preparing technical and procedural documentation and create detailed flowcharts to illustrate processing logic for simple application programs. The IT Analyst will also participate in providing solutions for programming system operations, which includes encoding, testing, debugging, and documenting programs. The position offers the opportunity to work in diverse teams, such as Cybersecurity, Computer Forensics, Identity Access Management, Applications, Cloud, Infrastructure Services, Enterprise Data Services, Treasury Process & Technology, and Embedded Software Development / Network Connectivity, depending on the needs of the Caterpillar IT workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in IT functions like developing, coding, and testing computer programs
  • Assists in preparing technical and procedural documentation
  • Creates detailed flowcharts to show processing logic for simple application programs
  • Contributes solutions for programming system operations, including encoding, testing, debugging, and documenting programs
  • Works independently and collaboratively on complex projects across various applications

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Cybersecurity or a technical-related degree from a four-year accredited college/university
  • Graduation Date between December 2024 and August 2025
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0 on 4.0 scale (without rounding)
  • Previous technical internship or work experience outside of classroom setting
  • Proficiency in computer software applications or programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, SQL, Db2, .NET, C, C++, C#, User Experience, HTML, AWS, and Azure
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and desire to take initiative
  • Strong communication, teamwork, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving and customer service skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
