About the position

The Analyst position within Lincoln International's Valuations & Opinions Group (VOG) is designed for individuals eager to develop their professional skills in portfolio valuations. Analysts will support the valuation of illiquid debt and equity securities for hedge funds, private equity funds, and business development companies, contributing to fair value reporting. This role offers exposure to a variety of asset classes and industries, fostering a dynamic and entrepreneurial work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the portfolio valuation team in providing valuations of illiquid debt and equity securities.
  • Perform financial statement analysis and quantitative assessments.
  • Review client investment memoranda and financial models to understand the securities being analyzed.
  • Compile statistical summaries of financial information and present analyses in organized formats.
  • Review and compile published financial information from various sources.
  • Identify relevant comparable public companies and M&A transactions.
  • Construct and review valuation analyses using proprietary models.
  • Research economic conditions and industry trends.
  • Participate in due diligence meetings and communicate with clients.
  • Design and draft client deliverables and assist in fee proposal preparations.
  • Perform ad-hoc research and analytics for the VOG team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics from a top-tier institution; Master's degree preferred.
  • Strong academic record with a GPA of 3.5 or above.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent understanding of financial statement analysis and valuation methodologies.
  • One year of professional experience in valuations, corporate finance, or accounting preferred.
  • Strong writing skills and experience with PowerPoint and Microsoft Word.
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active CPA license or minimum of CFA Level I preferred.
  • Understanding of integrated cash flow modeling is strongly preferred.
