About the position

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory is seeking a Robotic/Autonomous Systems Engineer to join their Maritime Robotics Group. This position is aimed at recent graduates with a degree in relevant fields who are passionate about solving complex problems in robotics. The role involves working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team to develop innovative robotic solutions for the Navy, focusing on both software and hardware aspects of robotic systems.

Responsibilities

  • Prototype next-generation robotic solutions to address critical challenges facing the Navy.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve problems that span both software and hardware.
  • Rapidly prototype solutions from conception through field testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Skilled in software or mechanical design methodologies applicable to robotic systems.
  • Passion for learning and willingness to acquire new skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Ability to obtain an Interim Secret security clearance by start date.

Nice-to-haves

  • Classroom or professional experience with robotic systems, autonomous systems, or machine perception algorithms.
  • Experience in a modern, collaborative software or hardware development environment.
  • Possession of a current active Secret clearance.
