About the position

The Hardware Mechanical Engineer Intern position at Northrop Grumman offers a unique opportunity for students pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM field. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in the Navigation, Targeting, & Survivability (NT&S) Division, where interns will work on innovative projects that contribute to global security. Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of mechanical systems and components.
• Participate in product development processes and collaborate with team members.
• Conduct analysis and testing of mechanical designs to ensure functionality and reliability.
• Utilize CAD software for modeling and simulation of mechanical components.
• Support documentation and presentation of design reviews and project updates.

Requirements

• Must be a full-time student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related STEM field.
• Availability to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2025.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is required).
• Ability to obtain Special Access Program clearance within a reasonable timeframe.

Nice-to-haves

• Overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher.
• Current/active DoD Secret clearance.
• Familiarity with Siemens NX, Solidworks, Creo, and 3D CAD Modeling.
• Experience in thermal analysis, structural analysis, and microelectronics design.
• Demonstrated capability in leading small to moderately sized teams during product development.
