About the position

Gap Inc. is seeking an HR Generalist Intern for their 2025 Summer Internship Program in San Francisco, CA. This 10-week program is designed to provide meaningful work experiences across various business areas, allowing interns to deepen their functional knowledge and immerse themselves in the fast-paced retail industry. Interns will work on projects that directly impact the company's bottom line and will have the opportunity to present their work to senior management. Additionally, interns will participate in company events such as executive speaker series and off-site activities, providing a well-rounded experience in the corporate environment. Successful interns will be well-positioned for full-time roles after graduation. As an HR Generalist Intern, you will gain exposure to the critical responsibilities of providing HR business support and partnership, which are essential for fostering an engaged workforce and enhancing business productivity. Your role will involve assisting in the execution of people strategies, responding to day-to-day HR activities, and supporting the HR team in developing and executing talent management strategies. You will also partner with key Gap Inc. HR solution centers, including Talent Management, Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, and Equality & Belonging, to deliver results aligned with the company's people strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the HR team on people and organizational issues throughout the organization, leveraging resources, programs, and tools to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Actively participate with leaders to advise on people and organization impact of business plans and decisions.
  • Research and identify strategies to improve employee engagement year over year, as measured through the continuous listening process.
  • Analyze HR metrics to identify business opportunities working with leadership to develop and implement solutions.
  • Support talent management and succession planning activities within the business.
  • Partner with HR partners in Talent Acquisition and Talent Management to support strategies to strengthen or fill gaps, as needed, to ensure a ready now talent pipeline.
  • Assist team with retention strategies to promote organizational stability.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret HR metrics and data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members and leaders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous internship experience in Human Resources or a related field is a plus.
  • Familiarity with HR software and tools.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
