About the position

Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) is seeking current students for a 2024 Internship and/or Co-op in their Denver, CO office. This role offers hands-on experience in civil and structural engineering, allowing interns to work alongside industry experts on real-world challenges while applying their classroom knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction monitoring, field investigations, and condition assessments.
• Conduct construction observations and project drafting.
• Perform structural design and analysis, and site inspections.
• Analyze materials and support petrography staff.
• Develop test protocols and design testing apparatus.
• Perform tests and analyze test data.
• Collaborate with SGH engineers for reconnaissance on existing structures and conduct field tests.
• Organize field data and assist with research for analysis and repair design.
• Prepare client deliverables including construction documents, specifications, and written reports.

Requirements

• Interest in civil and/or structural engineering, materials science, architecture, or architectural engineering.
• Maintain high academic grades.
• Enthusiasm for hands-on work experience in a consulting engineering environment.
• Strong communication abilities.
