About the position

The Robotics Engineer Internship at APL offers students the opportunity to engage in hands-on development of innovative robotic solutions for the Navy. Interns will work within a collaborative team environment, tackling complex technical challenges across various disciplines including software, hardware, and field testing. This role is ideal for those pursuing degrees in relevant engineering fields and who are eager to contribute to cutting-edge projects in robotics.

Responsibilities

  • Prototype next-generation robotic solutions to address critical challenges facing the Navy.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve problems spanning both software and hardware.
  • Participate in field testing of robotic systems and solutions.
  • Engage in the development of machine perception, autonomous decision-making, and control systems.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a BS in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn and apply new skills.
  • Ability to obtain an Interim Secret security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Classroom or professional experience with robotic systems or autonomous systems.
  • Experience with machine perception algorithms, including machine learning.
  • Experience in a modern, collaborative software development environment.
  • Possession of a current active Secret clearance.
