About the position

This specific opening is for a Summer Analyst position in the San Francisco office, following a training period in New York. The firm is organized into various industry and product groups, including Consumer Retail, Financial Institutions, Financial Sponsors, Power & Utilities, Healthcare, Industrials, Media & Communications, Mergers & Acquisitions, Oil & Gas, Real Estate, Transportation, and Technology. The Summer Analyst role will specifically support the Asset Management, Financial Sponsors, and Industrials Groups. The Summer Analyst Training Program is designed to immerse participants in the culture and operations of Morgan Stanley. Summer Analysts will take on responsibilities akin to those of a Full-Time Analyst, engaging in a variety of corporate transactions and contributing meaningfully to project delivery. The program includes an immersive orientation that introduces the firm’s culture, benefits, and responsibilities. Additionally, Summer Analysts will undergo intensive division-specific training aimed at building a solid foundation in financial analysis, accounting, and valuation. After completing the training, Summer Analysts will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of transactions within their assigned group, receiving ongoing on-the-job training and mentorship from experienced professionals. Networking opportunities with peers, mentors, and senior managers will also be available through team-building sessions and organized events.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing detailed corporate and financial information
  • Creating statistical exhibits that analyze comparative financial performance
  • Building models to illustrate projected financial results and value to companies
  • Developing marketing memoranda and delivering sections of research presentation
  • Participating in the execution of financings and M&A transactions
  • Acting as the liaison for the team and other parts of the Firm

Requirements

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree with a graduation date between December 2025 and June 2026
  • Minimum 3.4 GPA
  • Possess basic knowledge of and a keen interest in finance
  • Analytical, adaptive, multi-tasker and team player
  • Strong work ethic and leadership skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
