About the position

The Investment Risk Summer Internship at Lazard offers a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in risk management within a leading financial advisory and asset management firm. Interns will support the Global Risk team by assisting in the development and maintenance of risk management tools and processes, while also engaging in portfolio analytics and research on industry best practices. This role is designed for individuals eager to learn and contribute to the firm's risk management efforts in a dynamic business environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the firm's risk management function covering equity, fixed income, and alternative investments.
  • Perform portfolio analytics for portfolio management and marketing needs, generating reports used in risk management and portfolio construction.
  • Liaise with IT developers to implement the building of risk-management processes.
  • Conduct research on industry best practices and emerging trends in risk management, focusing on technological advancements.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports on risk exposure, mitigation strategies, and risk management performance.
  • Support the continuous improvement of risk management processes by identifying gaps and developing appropriate solutions.

Requirements

  • Expected graduation date in 2024 or 2025.
  • Ability to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
  • Ability to work in the office at 30 Rockefeller Plaza without relocation support.
  • Degree-level education in a technical subject such as Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics.
  • Strong programming skills, with proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, SQL, VBA).
  • Interest in Finance, especially in the asset management space.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Excel (VLOOKUP, SUMIF, etc.) and comfort in manipulating data.
  • Aptitude for diagnosing problems and creating solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical information in a non-technical manner.
