About the position

KeyBanc Capital Markets (KBCM) is seeking a Summer Analyst for its Equity Research team in Cleveland, Ohio. This position is designed for rising juniors who are currently enrolled in a four-year undergraduate degree program, with a focus on finance, economics, or accounting. The Summer Analyst Program offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the corporate and investment banking sector, providing exposure to senior-level bankers and clients. The program is structured to deliver comprehensive training and development, allowing analysts to engage in all stages of transaction executions, from the initial pitch phase to the closing of deals. This role is particularly suited for individuals who are highly motivated, possess strong quantitative and critical thinking skills, and have demonstrated leadership abilities through previous work experiences or extracurricular activities. The Equity Research group at KBCM is responsible for producing in-depth analysis, recommendations, and reports on investment opportunities that are of interest to institutional investors. Senior Analysts within the group specialize in various industries, providing expert knowledge and recommendations on public companies across sectors such as Basic Materials, Consumer, Energy, Healthcare, Industrial, Real Estate, and Technology. The Summer Analyst will have the opportunity to work closely with these Senior Analysts, gaining insights into the equity research process and contributing to the development of investment strategies. This position is not only a chance to learn and grow within a leading corporate and investment bank but also serves as a direct pipeline for full-time Analyst positions upon graduation. The program is designed to foster professional development and prepare participants for a successful career in capital markets.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the production of analysis, recommendations, and reports on investment opportunities.
  • Support Senior Analysts in conducting industry research and financial modeling.
  • Participate in the preparation of pitch materials for client presentations.
  • Engage in team meetings and contribute to discussions on market trends and investment strategies.
  • Collaborate with other analysts and departments to gather relevant data and insights.

Requirements

  • Rising juniors enrolled in a four-year undergraduate degree program with coursework in finance, economics, or accounting graduating by May of 2026.
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA.
  • Strong quantitative and critical thinking abilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork from past work experience and/or extracurricular activities.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

Benefits

  • Weekly salary of $1,340.
  • Overtime compensation paid in accordance with the Fluctuating Workweek Method.
