About the position

The Volunteer Operations Coordinator for the KPMG Women's PGA Championship is responsible for assisting with the on-site coordination of all volunteer operations and championship-related activities. This role involves working closely with the Championship Volunteer Operations Manager to ensure a successful volunteer program during the championship week, focusing on recruitment, training, and management of volunteers.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the coordination of Championship volunteers, including recruiting, enrolling, educating, outfitting, scheduling, training, and leading volunteers during Championship Week.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date system for volunteer registrations and profiles using the Trust Event Volunteer Management System.
  • Organize and train Committee Chairs to effectively lead their Committees during PGA Championship Week.
  • Assist the Championship Manager of Volunteer Operations, Championship Director, and Committee Chairs with various administrative tasks.
  • Plan, organize, and execute the on-site Volunteer Headquarters.
  • Recruit a local service provider to set up and serve daily continental breakfast for volunteers.
  • Coordinate unique amenities to enhance the volunteer experience within Volunteer HQ, such as entertainment and refreshments.
  • Organize special activities within Volunteer Headquarters, including happy hours and volunteer recognition events.
  • Assist with the organization and execution of various Championship special events.
  • Serve as the receptionist for the Championship Office, assisting vendors, volunteers, and visitors.
  • Manage office supplies, refreshments, and mail operations for the Championship Office.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Two years of experience in customer service, event, or volunteer administration, preferably at a Championship.
  • Knowledge of organization functions of a Championship operation with an emphasis on volunteer administration.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Skills in planning, organizing, and database management.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Ability to apply judgment and decision-making skills with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and MS Office Suite, especially Excel and database tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in event planning or management.
  • Familiarity with volunteer management systems.
